bunch of sonic 4 episode 1 haters... you guys don't understand, the return-to-basics formula marks a huge turning point on the series' focus. the visuals are celshaded to be reminiscent of the classic series, as if it was done on a palette. the soundtrack even sounds like sonic 2 and ONLY sonic 2. not only that, the level designs are based around sonic's momentum while sonic itself offers a much more calm experience, for better introductory platformer physics. with these points in mind we can agree that episode 1 is Shit and i respect all the hate it gets. you had a true in the first half .... sonic 4 is PEAK ..... |

In all seriousness, as much as I dislike S4E1, I'll admit that it isn't unsalvageable. Add in some real physics (or a boost and a trick system since the game's current physics system is actually from Sonic Rush, and that game's awesome) and you'll probably have an alright Sonic game. And re-record the soundtrack with either a professional synthesiser or real instruments before I start making FM Synthesis farting jokes.
I still wonder what an Episode 3 could've been like.

How come everyone keeps hating on this game? Sonic 4's stunning 3D visuals are way better than Sonic Mania's outdated 8-bit graphics  Absolutely stunning, I can now see how much better Sonic 4's graphics are compared to Sonic Mania's old 8-bit graphics smh my head  |

It's complicated for me, I see and understand all the flaws, but I still quite like playing it, the main problem is how they connected it to S1,CD,2,& 3, it worked way better as just a mobile spinoff.
