You already have Gamebana for modding and the discord server for community things, and so I ask:
Why does the forums exist?
The only reasons I got so far is or "Gamebana 7 year old" or "gamebanana is toxic", reasons which are pretty lame and nonsensical or bad explained.
If anyone knows the answer, pls comment it.
and no, pls don't throw the "forums better" thing here.

Making an entire forum just to extinguish recolor mods would be silly, likely one of the reasons was to have some kind of quality control against low-quality mods (recolors included). The mods here have to be revised and approved by the staff to be posted.
Surely there are more reasons for the existence of the forum, although I don't think I recall what they were if I ever seen them. I do remember some months ago how the moderator(s) of the GameBanana page quit, and people acted like it was the end of the world because they thought the GB page was going to turn into recolors' galore, and were eager for the release of the forum. But even before the moderators quit the forum was already on its way, so it can't really be the reason for its creation...? Again, I don't remember the exact circumstances that led to the creation of the forum, so I may or may not be getting something wrong here, misremembering things. Hopefully someone can give a definitive answer to the question, because this thread actually got me thinking lol

Because one of the old page managers deleted the rules page, causing all kinds of anarchy. Forums are also superior to Discord for long-term discussions.
Even then, I still post my stuff on GameBanana since I've found mod pages to be easier to work with there than on the forum.

simple reason:quality control gamebanana basically forces the pages to be "friendly to new modders" which basically means almost no rules you could go to gamebanana but you would need to scroll down for a big while to try and find a quality mod of your liking

If anyone knows the answer, pls comment it. and no, pls don't throw the "forums better" thing here. You are kind of missing the point but let me try to explain it Other boards are flooded with low effort mods that change a color or one theme, that add one single image, etc. The word 'low quality' isn't even appropriate for roughly 99% of the mods on sites like GB. And of the ones that have some effort, it's extremely common for them to go 10 to 30% complete, then get abandoned. And left unfinished. Requests for silly nonsense get posted with next to no bounties, people post asking why X mod caused an issue when it was a mod order issue or some inherent nonsense in the poster. Long story short this forum is a way to filter out a lot of that, so your mods don't get buried under piles of trash and weirdness and other random bits. If you look at GB and think that's even navigatable half the time... well have fun with that.

To answer your question, why the forums was created for many reasons, although one of the small reasons was how our personal interests didn't align with GameBanana. The forums main intention was to make a platform for people to easily converse and share things relating to Sonic 3 A.I.R. easily and efficiently across the internet and communities. If you have more questions regarding this, please do ask but for now, I hope that answers your question mostly! NOTE: As I've seen, a lot of the users mention quality control which is generally correct, but not the main reason why we created the forums.
